My name is Eric Wagenhals. I practice Computer Science and Sociology for a living, and for fun. When integrated together, these two fields can be really quite fascinating!
Throughout life, I have always been able to count on at least nine strengths that drive myself (and those around me) toward contextual understanding, gathering of input, focus, responsibility, and achievement. These dependable strengths include:
Together with great, talented people, I work to ensure that systems, networks, and infrastructure all operate as smoothly and as reliably as possible.
My research at the University of Washington, Tacoma centered around the sociology of technological systems. I am proud to announce my graduation with a Bachelor's degree in June of 2011.
In my last year at the University of Washington, I had the pleasure of working on two research projects which I consider the crowning achievements of my collegiate education:
These research projects represent the culmination of a synthesis of ideas from many scholars across multiple disciplines, colleges, and universities. One particularly notable collaborator on these projects was Alexander Cross, then a student at California College of the Arts.
The findings of my papers are valuable to the scholarly community, so I plan to facilitate academic dissemination by making them available online as soon as possible. Some of my papers are already available in my portfolio.
Most recently, I worked as a senior server engineer on the Technical Operations team within I.T. Operations at Seattle University. Prior to this experience, I worked as an
Going further back, I worked at Renton Technical College as a Systems Administrator. ...and prior to that, worked for the Washington State Bar Association, in their Information Technology department, as a Network Administrator.
Prior to the Bar, I owned and operated Eric's Computer Service, a personal computer services company, for 12 years. Prior to that, I managed computing resources at Apple Appraisal Associates.
Through experience in business, I became a member of NASBA (North American System Builder's Association). Additionally, I became a registered member of many corporate channel partner programs including those from Intel, Microsoft, AMD, Seagate, and nVidia. I enjoy working in the IT industry because I am presented with new and different ideas, problems, and solutions on a daily basis.
For six years (on the side) I also worked as a model and brand representative for the casual luxury clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch. There I gained experience in high-volume retail sales, customer service, loss prevention, and team leadership.
For fun, I enjoy socializing with friends, throwing get-togethers, and tinkering with mechanical or electronic things (like my car, or my computer). I love listening to music, watching movies, and riding my bicycle.

Besides loving to work with people and computers, Eric also has a strong passion for supporting equal human rights, taking care of the environment, and ameliorating social and racial injustice.
